Ligament sprains

Ligament sprains

Traumatic injuries often cause damage to ligaments, such as rolling over on your ankles or ACL damage when our knees are over-stretched. Ligaments usually repair themselves with scar tissue, which although helps to ‘patch’ the ligament up, isn’t very functional and leaves us at risk of re-injury. Physiotherapy helps the ligament to heal correctly, as well as strengthening the surrounding muscles to help support the ligament whilst it heals and minimise the chance of it happening again.
